CBGOS brings structure, accountability and continuity to cooperative board governance—without requiring a new board portal.
Good governance is not an annual event. It is a repeatable system of responsible decisions, strong board–CEO relationships, professional development and deliberate stewardship.
ONE METHODOLOGY, FLEXIBLE DELIVERY
Choose how to operate CBGOS. The methodology stays consistent regardless of the software your cooperative uses.
Run CBGOS with existing board technology, controlled documents and board-owned records.

THE HANDBOOK
INDEPENDENT EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE
A comprehensive governance education resource covering fiduciary duties, board leadership, strategy, the board–CEO partnership, member accountability and complex board decisions.
The approved Handbook manuscript remains protected. Book publication and companion-resource access will be announced separately; this website does not currently offer book sales or a subscription login.

The six approved governance pillars are the authoritative method. Seven practical service components make it easier for a cooperative to implement.
The approved six-pillar structure underlying every CBGOS product and service.
Constitution, director authority, policies, committee charters, board calendar and conduct standards.
Board–CEO partnership, trust, communication, mentoring, ethics, leadership and succession.
Strategy, financial oversight, enterprise risk, technology, member value and intergenerational responsibility.
Director orientation, learning paths, practical cases, mentoring and future credentials only after validation.
Board/CEO scorecards, evaluation evidence and prototype indicators with validation safeguards.
Retreats, board assessment, corrective action, annual governance review and renewal.
OPERATING OUTPUTS
Board charter, policy and authority register.
Meeting cycle, agenda readiness and action tracking.
Source-controlled evaluation, improvement, compensation and separation pathways.
Retreats, decision gates and quarterly strategic review.
Financial resilience, risk thresholds and board-level exceptions.
First-year learning, mentoring and continuing education.
Board review, integrity safeguards and annual improvement.
THE CBGOS ETHOS
CBGOS templates cannot adopt policies, approve votes, determine legal outcomes or bypass the cooperative’s law, articles, bylaws and counsel.
THE INSTALLATION JOURNEY
CBGOS is installed through four phases. Each stage produces an observable board artifact—not merely a presentation or training attendance.
Establish authority, structure and culture.
Charter, board sponsor, baseline interview and governance calendar.
Constitution/Covenant, authority matrix and committee charters.
Director conduct, conflict escalation and board norms.
Strengthen board–CEO partnership and stewardship oversight.
Delegation, communications, evaluation cycle and evidence protocols.
Strategic horizon, assumptions and board review dates.
Board finance packet and resilience decision thresholds.
Make risk, technology and board development routine.
Enterprise risk register and escalation process.
Cyber/AI oversight and secured tool decisions.
Onboarding milestones and mentoring process.
Assess, improve and renew the operating cycle.
Board assessment pilot and evidence-based dashboard.
Board retreat and 90-day improvement compact.
Annual governance review and next-year operating plan.
A CBGOS installation can begin with an ordinary calendar, properly approved records and the tools your cooperative already uses.

Every published resource will have a stable ID, edition, owner, rights and version history. A book companion is not automatically an organizational license.
Educational overview and approved public samples.
Resources promised with a particular book edition; no second CBGOS purchase.
Editable adoption instruments, full implementation and support under approved agreement.
Sensitive CEO, complaints and counsel workflows remain offline or securely governed.
M1 / HANDS-ON PREVIEW
A local-only demonstration of non-sensitive CBGOS registers, learning milestones, and quarterly reviews. The board still makes every real governance decision.
BOARD OPERATIONS / DEMO
Track general board-approved next steps. Refer to actual minutes held by the cooperative; this register is not itself the legal record.
Uploading or listing a policy does not make it adopted. An adopted status must cite a proper board approval reference.
Capture general learning milestones only. No personnel assessment or credential is generated.
Use yes/no completion indicators, not financial details, risk incidents, personnel files or legal advice.
Export a human-readable evidence manifest or a machine-readable backup for use with your existing tools. No real governance source documents are uploaded to CBGOS.
This export is not a signed board record, immutable audit log, secure archive, third-party certification or substitute for approved minutes.
Confidential CEO evaluation (approved nine-category / 22-unit protocol), director complaints, independent investigations, compensation, termination and legal-counsel records require separately validated, role-controlled processes. Use your cooperative's secure custody system and the authoritative source manuals.
YOU CHOOSE YOUR TECHNOLOGY
CBGOS is designed to move between software environments without changing its underlying procedures, stable resource IDs or board accountability.
Operate the twelve-month program through existing board portals, Microsoft 365, controlled local files or paper, with approved minutes and decisions remaining under cooperative control.
OnBoard is the preferred software-partner direction for advanced board meetings and collaboration. Its actual capability fit, commercial terms and safeguards remain subject to vendor response and functional demonstrations.
A secure hosted workspace could eventually support shared cadences, actions, policy management and controlled director learning, without requiring an external portal.
CBGOS is delivered from its own domain, and the program can still work with an organization's existing board software. CBGOS.com is the dedicated site. A domain purchase or static website does not establish licensed access, security, or the live governance platform.

PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL SAMPLE / VERSION 0.1
Effective governance requires a predictable pattern of preparation, decision-making, follow-through and annual renewal. This is an educational overview, not a board-adopted policy or the licensed CBGOS operating manual.
| Frequency | Focus | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Each meeting | Notice, agenda, quorum, conflicts, deliberation | Approved minutes and action references |
| Monthly | Decision follow-up and policy exceptions | Action and policy register |
| Quarterly | Strategy, financial resilience and risk | Board review record |
| Annually | Board and CEO cycles, retreat, next-year plan | Separate protected files and renewal plan |
The chair guides governance processes; the board owns its decisions. The CEO manages operations and provides management reports. A sample form never replaces properly called meetings, legal review or an approved vote.
